I've spent the last 20+ years attending and photographing countless memorial services, Veterans events and parades, and it's taken until now to learn about what a long and deep tradition it is. A tradition that many Americans still revere and participate in, but many more have actively chosen to forget. And sadly, many today wish all such memorials and remembrances be removed from public view, lest they offend.
As the famous bumper sticker says, "For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know."
